A Letter to the Mainstream Media

Dear MSM,

I realize that you have provided us with news for a long time now.  In the past, the coverage was more fair and, now, has been trending closer and closer to propaganda.  Your selective coverage, crafty editing, and disregard for important issues such as the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), which threatens to censor the internet and place sanctions on any referral site of a condemned URL, is beginning to anger many good Americans.

The main fallacy which blinds you, MSM, is that you believe your power is derived from the money your company's possess.  Like most modern politicians, you believe that if you throw enough money at a problem, it will eventually go away.  If you provide enough bias coverage, you can silence any movement.

You are wrong.

In reality, you derive your power from the influence you have on the viewership/readership.  As your bias becomes more obvious to the public, that influence will fade.  Thus, your power will fade and dwindle to nothing.  We, the American people, the viewership and/or readership, WILL hold you accountable.  The internet provides us with enough information to supplant the need for you.

MSM, if you continue to go down your currently chosen path, you will perish.

The internet will crush you the way email crushed handwritten letters.

I urge you to provide us with fair, unbiased coverage.  If you choose to do this, the free market will reward you.  If you choose not to do this, you will lose ratings.

Sincerely,

Derrel Walters
